From November 5th to 6th , 2020, a workshop on research and practical activities for primary and secondary students in Zhejiang was organized and held in the Yandangshan Global Geopark. Present in the workshop were educators and scholars from across China and other representatives from cultural and extracurricular organizations. They had a discussion and shared their experience about new ways and new models for students to combine the knowledge they acquire at the classroom with practical activities outside campus.
In the afternoon of 5th, educators, scholars and other participants had a field trip along 3 routes covering scenic areas including Yandangshan research camp, Dalongqiu scenic area, Lingfeng scenic area and Tiedingliuliu Scenic area. Brief introduction about subjects studied or investigated along the routes was given by guide from time to time.
After the field trip, participants from different institutes and organizations told the reporter that they had a different understanding about Yandangshan, and they did recognize the value of the unique routes for field trips in the Global Geopark. Meanwhile, they thought Yandangshan research camp would play an important role in the development and popularization of extracurricular activities designed for students in Yandangshan. The camp, which mainly presents features of Yandangshan, is equipped with advanced facilities, including classroom, canteen and dorm, and is able to accommodate up to 600 primary and secondary students.
